For those of you guys that don't know me my name is Skylar. My mom Amanda, dad Jeff, my younger sister Avery and I currently live in a eco friendly log house on a small lake near Georgian Bay. My parents built the house almost entirely by them self's. We bought this property about six years ago with a fixer upper house, but once my parents started ripping out the walls they found black mold everywhere and the inspectors said it was unlivable so we had to rip it down to the foundation. Well building we lived on the property in tents and built an outside shower, a compost toilet and we had are kitchen in the garage. When it became to cold to live outside we rented a tiny cottage on Georgian Bay it was a 45 minute drive away so it slowed the house building process down. We went back to are property in the summer and then when winter came round we moved back to the tiny cottage on Georgian Bay. That next summer are neighbour let use rent out his cottage, and then for the winter we rented out are friend's winterized cottage down the road. After the another summer of living in tents we wore able to move into the house, it wasn't entirely done but it was getting there. After 4 years of hard work our two story log house was finally completed.
We have now lived in this house for 6 years and we are sadly currently in the prepossess of selling it. My dad has bought a much smaller house, he will be moving into it by September we just recently bought a small school bus and are going to renovate it into a mobile home and travel out west. We are hoping to leave for this trip near the end of summer.
About my past
My family has moved several times through out my sister and my life. We wore raised leaning about the environment, how to identify different plants and animals, from my who studied to become environmentalist at Sir Sand-ford Fleming Collage. We where also home-schooled by my mom, because we wore home-schooled we got to go on hikes all the time and go canoe camping in the off sessions at Algonquin and Killarney. We grow up hiking on the Ganaraska tail that runs through the Sugarbush where our first house was. My first time canoe camping was when I was one and a half at Algonquin, Avery and I first hiking The Crack a 4 hour 6km trail with beautiful view. My mom,Avery and I started going on backpacking trips the first big one we did was The La Cloche Silhouette Trail a 77km trail we hiked 58km of the trail. We have hiked multiple other trails as well.
